Clifton Hill's local tree care experts

Yes. Yarra City Council applies Vegetation Protection Overlays and other planning controls that regulate trees above certain sizes. Clifton Hill is a heritage-character suburb with an established tree canopy, and much of it falls within overlay zones. A permit will generally be required before removing or significantly pruning any tree that meets Yarra's size thresholds.

Properties close to Merri Creek can be subject to waterway corridor protections managed by Melbourne Water, in addition to Yarra council's standard planning overlays. Riparian buffers limit what can be removed or disturbed near the creek bank. We check what applies for specific addresses near waterways before we quote, because the restrictions can be more complex than a standard urban block.

Figs can have aggressive root systems, and root damage to footings is a legitimate reason to seek council approval for removal. In Yarra, you'd need to document the damage and lodge a planning permit application with supporting evidence. Root pruning can sometimes slow the damage, but figs are persistent and it's rarely a complete solution. We can advise after an assessment.

Yes. We're used to working in the inner north where street parking is scarce and access is tight. Where a council works permit is needed to hold a parking space, we arrange that. We plan the logistics of the job as part of the quoting process, not as an afterthought on the day.
