About us

About Tomahawk

Tomahawk Tree Services goes back three generations, though it didn't start out as tree work.

Tom's Opa ran a sawmill up in Benalla and did arborist work on the side. He knew timber better than most people know their own backyard. Tom's parents went a different way with it, running a sugar gum plantation and selling firewood. The family was always around wood, just not always cutting it off someone's property.

Tom grew up in the middle of that. Stacking wood, learning about different tree types, picking up bits of how his Opa used to talk about trees. By the time he trained as an arborist himself, everyone in the family had already spent their whole lives around timber in one way or another.

These days that's Tomahawk, servicing Melbourne's Northern Suburbs, Kilmore, Broadford, Wallan, Seymour, Nagambie and everywhere in between.

FAQs

Have questions?

Can you schedule work outside school hours or during holidays?

Yes. We know school grounds need to stay safe and usable during term. We're happy to schedule work for after hours, weekends or school holidays where that suits you better.

How do you keep students safe during tree work?

We set up exclusion zones around the work area, use qualified arborists for all cutting and climbing work, and coordinate timing with school staff so students aren't near the site while work is underway.

Can you respond quickly if a tree becomes a hazard on school grounds?

Yes, if a tree is posing an immediate risk we can prioritise the assessment and, where needed, the removal to get it sorted quickly.

Do you provide documentation for our records after the job?

Yes, we can provide an outline of the work completed, which is useful for your maintenance records or if it needs to be reported to your school council.
