Why us

Why choose us?

Trees on common property come with shared responsibility, and often a committee to satisfy before any work goes ahead, so Tomahawk works with body corporates and strata managers to maintain trees on common areas, resolve boundary and overhang issues, and reduce liability risk for the scheme. We provide clear, itemised quotes suited to AGM or committee approval, and can liaise directly with your strata manager to keep the process simple.

About us

About Tomahawk

Tomahawk Tree Services goes back three generations, though it didn't start out as tree work.

Tom's Opa ran a sawmill up in Benalla and did arborist work on the side. He knew timber better than most people know their own backyard. Tom's parents went a different way with it, running a sugar gum plantation and selling firewood. The family was always around wood, just not always cutting it off someone's property.

Tom grew up in the middle of that. Stacking wood, learning about different tree types, picking up bits of how his Opa used to talk about trees. By the time he trained as an arborist himself, everyone in the family had already spent their whole lives around timber in one way or another.

These days that's Tomahawk, servicing Melbourne's Northern Suburbs, Kilmore, Broadford, Wallan, Seymour, Nagambie and everywhere in between.

FAQs

Have questions?

Can you provide a quote suitable for committee or AGM approval?

Yes, we provide clear, itemised quotes that outline exactly what work is proposed and why, which makes it easier for your committee to review and approve at a meeting.

Do you deal directly with our strata manager?

Yes, we're happy to liaise directly with your strata or body corporate manager to organise access, timing and approvals, so you don't have to be the go-between.

Who's responsible for a tree on a boundary between lots?

It depends on your scheme's plan of subdivision and where the tree actually sits. We can assess the tree and advise on the practical options, though your strata manager may need to confirm responsibility under your specific by-laws.

Can you reduce liability risk from trees on common property?

Yes, we can assess trees on common property for hazards like deadwood, structural issues or overhang, and carry out the pruning or removal needed to reduce risk to residents and visitors.
