Good mulch applied properly makes a real difference to your soil, your trees and your garden beds.

Mulching is one of the simplest things you can do for your trees and garden beds, and one of the most often done badly. Too thin and it doesn't do much. Too thick or piled against the trunk and it causes more problems than it solves. Done right, mulch retains soil moisture, moderates temperature, suppresses weeds and improves soil health over time.
Tomahawk supplies and spreads mulch properly, at the right depth and kept clear of root zones and tree bases where it can cause issues. Whether you need garden beds done, tree surrounds mulched or a larger area covered, we get it sorted cleanly and correctly.
Want your trees and garden beds properly mulched without the guesswork? Tomahawk handles it the right way.

Around 75 to 100mm is a good general depth for most applications. Too shallow and it dries out quickly; too deep and it can create moisture problems and harbour pests. We apply it at the right depth and keep it away from trunks and stems.
Coarse wood chip mulch is generally good for trees and larger garden areas. It breaks down slowly, improves soil structure over time and doesn't compact as quickly as finer materials. We can advise on what suits your specific situation when we're on site.
It depends on the material and conditions, but most organic mulch breaks down and needs topping up every one to two years. If it's looking thin or the soil underneath is drying out quickly, that's usually a sign it's time.
It can make a real difference. Mulching around the base of a tree improves moisture retention and soil health, which takes pressure off the root system. It won't fix a serious disease or structural problem, but for a tree that's just under stress, good mulching is a solid start.
